Fourth graders, join us for volleyball skills camp led by Coach Julie Augustyn! Basic skills will be introduced to prepare for future leagues. Practices will be held on Wednesday nights from October 6-October 27.

All Kindergarten age kids are invited to come and learn basic soccer skills to prepare for future leagues. We introduce children to basic skills with fun and exciting drills. The field will be cut down and we will emphasize skill development.

All 4 year old’s are invited to join us in learning the basic fundamentals of soccer! We will introduce basic skills in a fun and exciting way. The field will be smaller and the emphasis will be on teaching the tools necessary to excel in future soccer leagues. NOTE: PreSchool Soccer is for 4 year olds only.

Burlington Promotions and BRC are teaming up to offer an evening of fun @ Kelley Park. Free hot dogs, chips and bottled water will be served while supplies last. Hayrack rides around the park, a candy cannon along with the candy hunt, costume contest, pumpkin decorating, money dig, pumpkin patch, hot wheels racing and touch a truck. The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 16. Mark your calendars and look for more details to be published in September! (This event takes the place of the costume con-test & candy hunt BRC usually has at the high school.)
Storytime, Fun & Crafts
Moms, drop off your school-aged kids then head to the Rec on Tuesday mornings for a kid-free workout. Your preschool aged kids can join this class offered by Coffey County Library @ BRC. Storytime, crafts & a variety of other activities will be part of the fun. The class is free but space is limited so sign up at BRC.

Boo Boogie Bash
Put on your favorite costume and don’t forget your dancing shoes because it’s time for a Halloween dance party! We will pump up the volume and play some of your favorite, creepy Halloween songs along with today’s hits during this Boo Boogie Bash! Prizes will be awarded for the scariest costume, prettiest costume and the cutest costume.

Kids 4+ interested in learning about wrestling should enroll in the Rec Wrestling Program! Wrestlers will learn basic wrestling holds and terminology. The BHS wrestling team, will run practices (Mondays for three weeks),
followed by a local tournament on Monday, December 13.
Each wrestler will receive a t-shirt and medal for participating in the local tournament.
For those interested in competing in competitive wrestling tournaments, the
Burlington Wrestling Club has a separate program which begins after the BRC wrestling program has ended. Rec Wrestling practices are held at the BHS wrestling room; enter through the Activity Entrance. Practice will run from 5:15-6:15pm.

Burlington Wrestling Club
This club is for those interested in wrestling in competitive tournaments! Registration forms for the Burlington Wrestling Club will be out the first of November! As part of wrestling in USA, Wrestling-Kansas, student athletes compete in age groups (6&U, 8&U, 10&U, 12&U, 14&U) as well as weight classes, so they are competing against other wrestlers of the same age and size. Fee covers singlet/headgear rental, USA wrestling card and 5 tournaments.

Hey kids, how about some hands on craft fun. We will paint a couple of ceramic projects and make some season-al crafts. Come join your friends while you create a project to take home & display proudly.

Glow Show Dance Fun
Learn a simple routine then get your “glow” on and per-form at the annual Glow Show at the BHS football game in October. The fee covers instruction and glow materials (poms, etc) that you will be using at the Glow Show! This is a pompon class that learns a dance for the Glow Show and then is finished. Maximum of 20 people. If we get over 20 signed up we might offer a second class at 4:00pm. The tentative date for the Glow Show is October 22.

Join this performing group to work on rhythm, coordination and dance moves! This class will run from September through February. Participants will perform several times throughout the year at various sporting events. The fee covers classes from Sept through Feb. There will be an additional t-shirt fee prior to the basketball game. The tentative performance dates are on October 22 for the Glow Show and at the February 11 basketball game.

Let’s “wet a line” at a fishing “honey hole” West of town. Kids should meet at the Rec at 4:00pm. We will then bus you to the pond for some fishing fun. No pole, no problem—we will supply poles for those who do not have one. Bait will also be provided. Parents are welcome to go but it isn’t mandatory.

Enter this coloring contests for a little friendly coloring competition and try to win one of the prizes! Pick up a coloring sheet after Wednesday, December 1 and return it by Friday, December 17. Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:

Go Big Red! Cheer the Wildcats on to victory and perform at the halftime of a BHS varsity boys’ basketball game! You will learn sideline chants, floor cheers, jumps, and a short dance routine. The fee covers instruction and a t-shirt. Plan to strut your stuff at a BHS basketball game on Thursday, February 24. 1st Grade and up.

Instructional Basketball W/the ‘Cats
1st and 2nd graders are invited to learn about the game of basketball by participating in our annual instructional camp. Kids will get to learn from Coach Logan and the Burlington Wildcats basketball team! Instructional basket-ball will be held on Wednesdays from January 5th to January 26th with the 26th being our game day. Fee covers cost of the clinic plus a t-shirt. Times may change based on the number of kids participating.
