4 on 4 Women’s Volleyball

Ladies, get your teams together and sign up for the Fall Volleyball league!  This league will be 4 on 4, call your own game!  Games will be on Thursday nights beginning Sept. 26.

Taste of Fall Festival

Pumpkins, kettle corn, inflatables, entertainment and MUCH more!  Once again the Taste of Fall Festival will be held at Kelly Park! Many activities for all ages are being planned for kids and adults alike!  Activities planned include:  Mason’s breakfast, Cruise-In Car Show, pumpkin decorating, goodie walk, KC Zipline, twinkie eating contest, entertainment, face painting, kids games, hay dig, pioneer activities, Hot Wheels racing and more!  Plan to spend a beautiful fall day in Burlington enjoying some hometown fun!  Look for flyers around town!

Location:  First 20 vendors who sign up and pay the fee have choice of inside or outside booth setup.  Electricity is available, but vendors must bring their own extension cord  (Note: food vendors will be outdoors)

 

Set Up:  Saturday morning, Oct 5, 6:30-9:00am

Garage Sale ‘Gym’Boree

Just in time for the holidays is the 12th annual Garage Sale ‘Gym’boree! Clean out your closets and set up a booth in the warmth of the Rec Center gym.  The fee to participate is $5, which helps cover the cost of  advertisement.  Each 8 X 10’ booth space will be given one 8’ table to use.  Vendors must remain set-up for the entire time!

Christmas Craft Fair

It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas!  Christmas seems to come faster every year and this year will be no exception! Come to the 40th annual Christmas Craft Festival to shop for gifts and decorating items!  A large variety of homemade arts and crafts will fill the gym,  commons, and hallways of the Burlington High School!  Several area businesses will hold their open houses on this day, so plan to spend the day right here in Burlington!

Join us for the 15th annual Craft and Gift Annex!  Once again we will offer additional Craft Festival shopping at Burlington Middle School!  Crafters who do not fit in the High School, direct sales, home-based businesses, etc. will be selling their wares here.  Stop by for some great gift items!

Holiday Homes Tour

The Christmas spirit will be everywhere as you attend the Holiday Homes Tour!  Area homes will be decked out for the Christmas season.  This is a great place to get decorating ideas, so grab your friends or sign up to ride the Recreation Center van and enjoy a Sunday afternoon of fun!  Tickets can be purchased at Hoover’s Thriftway or BRC.  If you plan to ride the BRC van, you will need to purchase that ticket from BRC for an additional $2.

Christmas Parade 2019

“Santa’s Workshop” is the theme for the 2019 Burlington Promotions Christmas Parade.  Get your float together and plan to be a part of this fun, lighted parade!  To register for the parade, contact Ronda Gilbert at the Coffey County Housing Authority or Patty Ann Sanborn at State Farm Insurance.

New this year will be a Holiday Decorating Contest!  There will be a business category, and an individual category.  This is co-sponsored by Coffey County Chamber and Burlington Promotions.  More details will follow this fall!

Men, grab your old sneakers and call up your team.  This year we will be starting an adult 5 on 5

basketball league.  Games will be played

Morning Water Aerobics

Do you enjoy the water?  Start your morning off with this great water aerobic class.  Everyone is welcome, young and old.  This is a class for all fitness levels.  You are encouraged to work at your own place and enjoy the water and camaraderie of your classmates!

Chair Aerobics w/ Salli

Chair aerobics is an alternative way to exercise when you can’t stand up and workout.  It is excellent for those with limited mobility, recovering from an injury or for those just wanting to try something different.

Aquatics for Arthritis

This Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program is a water exercise program for people with arthritis and related conditions.  It was developed jointly by the Arthritis Foundation and the YMCA of the USA and is currently supported by the Aquatics Exercise Association.  AFAP is designed to reduce fatigue, pain and stiffness, and improve mobility, muscle strength, and coordination.  The course will be led by instructor, Lindsay Beyer.

Aqua Fitness with Salli

Tone and sculpt your body with no impact to your joints.  This class will be a blend of cardio and resistance training using noodles and water weights.  Any fitness level can get benefits from this class.

Don’t let life pass you by—get out of your chair and move!  Join 55+ and Fit and work towards some

rewarding incentives!  You can walk, bike, swim, lift weights, take class, etc.  Any activity can be chosen, but should be 15-20 minutes long or longer and done at BRC to count as a workout.  Keep track of your progress on the flowchart downstairs and see how close you are to the next incentive prize!  If you need accountability, find our  fitness flyer and join one of our many class options!
