6 on 6 Women’s Volleyball
Ladies, get your teams together for our annual 6 on 6 women’s volleyball league. This is a “call your own game” league with no officials present. Games will be on Wednesday nights and will

run approximately 6 weeks long.

Burlington Promotions and BRC are teaming up to offer an evening of fun @ Kelley Park. Free hot dogs, chips and bottled water will be served while supplies last. Hayrack rides around the park, candy cannon along with the candy hunt, costume contest, pumpkin decorating, money dig, pumpkin patch, hot wheels racing and touch a truck. The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 16. Mark your calendars and look for more details to be published in September! (This event takes the place of the costume con-test & candy hunt BRC usually has at the high school.)

4 on 4 Women’s Volleyball
Ladies, come out and join us for some “call your own game” 4 on 4 volleyball. Games will begin November 10th and run for approximately 6 weeks.

Garage Sale ‘Gym’Boree
Just in time for the holidays is the 14th annual Garage Sale ‘Gym’boree! Clean out your closets and set up a booth in the warmth of the Rec Center gym. The fee to participate is $5, which helps cover the cost of advertisement. Each 8 X 10’ booth space will be given one 8’ table to use.

Vendors must remain set-up for the entire time!

Cricut Workshop
Have you ever wanted to learn how to use your Cricut? Or maybe you don’t have a Cricut but would like to make a shirt, design a sign or just be creative. If so, this is the class for you! Monique Hart will host a class to help you create something or give ideas on items you can make using a Cricut vinyl cutting machine. There will be t-shirts & other items to choose from & you can make your own shirt to take home. Besides shirts, there are thousands of things you can use a Cricut for. Monique has used a Cricut for several years and will help you find answers to questions you may have.

All supplies will be furnished.

Christmas Craft Fair
It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Christmas seems to come faster every year and this year will be no exception! Come to the 42nd annual Christmas Craft Festival to shop for gifts and decorating items! A large variety of homemade arts and crafts will fill the gym, commons, and hallways of the Burlington High School! Several area businesses will hold their open houses on this day, so plan to spend the day right here in Burlington!

Holiday Decorating Contest
Deck your home with all of your favorite lights and décor and sign up to have it judged. The first place prize is $100, 2nd place is $75 and 3rd place is $50. There will be a business category and an individual category. This is sponsored by Burlington Promotions.

Holiday Homes Tour
The Christmas spirit will be everywhere as you attend the Holiday Homes Tour! Area homes will be decked out for the Christmas season. This is a great place to get decorating ideas, so grab your friends or sign up to ride the Recreation Center van and enjoy a Sunday afternoon of fun! Tickets can be purchased at Hoover’s Thriftway or BRC. If you plan to ride the BRC van, you will need to purchase that ticket from BRC for and additional $2.

Men’s League Basketball
Men, grab your old sneakers and call up the boys for this adult 5 on 5 basketball league. Games will be played on Wednesday nights for approximately 6 weeks beginning on January 12th.

Women on Weights is a great resistance class to create a lean body. Exercise will focus on strength for your upper body and high reps for lower body. All fitness levels are encouraged to attend this class.

Morning Water Aerobics
Do you enjoy the water? Start your morning off with this great water aerobic class. Everyone is welcome, young and old. This is a class for all fitness levels. You are encouraged to work at your own pace and enjoy the water and camaraderie of your classmates!

Chair Aerobics w/ Salli
Chair aerobics is an alternative way to exercise when you can’t stand up and workout. It is excellent for those with limited mobility, recovering from an injury or for those just wanting to try something different. Balance, strength and endurance exercises are all part of this class.

NOTE: The first week class will be Mon/Wed instead of Mon/Thurs.

Aquatics for Arthritis
This Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program is a water exercise program for people with arthritis and related conditions. It was developed jointly by the Arthritis Foundation and the YMCA of the USA and is currently supported by the Aquatics Exercise Association. AFAP is designed to reduce fatigue, pain and stiffness, and improve mobility, muscle strength, and coordination.

The course will be led by instructor, Justin Logan.

Pickleball is a combination of tennis, badminton and ping pong and is something all ages can play. The rules are simple, the game is easy to learn, and you can have fun playing immediately.

Don’t let life pass you by—get out of your chair and move! Join 55+ and Fit and work towards some
rewarding incentives! You can walk, bike, swim, lift weights, take class, etc. Any activity can be chosen, but should be 15-20 minutes long or longer and done at BRC to count as a workout. Keep track of your progress on the recording sheets at the front desk and see how close you are to the next incentive prize! Yoga for Arthritis
Jodi Smith with East Central Kansas Agency on Aging will offer a free 4 week yoga class. Those participating must have some type of arthritis and can either do the class on a mat or while sitting in a chair. Those who have participated in this type of class have found they have reduced pain, increased range of motion and flexibility. Starting in October. Dates to be announced.
